SANTA FE RESIDENCE

The New Mexico residence for art collectors is an exploration of the serene
and the severe qualities of the desert of the American southwest. A structural
glass wall supports the cantilevered roof and dissolves the distinction
between indoors and outdoors, provoking reflection on the nature of shelter.
A skyspace by James Turrell in the center of the house raises a very different
set of issues about the perception of light and space. Just as the owners
live with challenging works of art, so the house is an inquiry into habitation.
SAGAPONACK RESIDENCE

This house is a gathering place for three generations of a family. Its
three distinct parts progress from one to one-and-a-half to two stories,
a study of the scale and additive structure of traditional rural homes.
The design recalls and reinterprets the classic farmhouse with steep roofs,
pronounced overhangs, tall two-over-two windows and generous porches.
HOUSTON RESIDENCE

This 1950's bungalow was completely renovated to create an environment
to display and live with modern art. Walls are off-white, floors are stained
grey-green, and new lighting was installed throughout. A 1,500 square
foot addition houses a master bedroom suite overlooking the lush Houston
greenery. The exterior materials are a copper roof, cedar siding and pre-rusted
steel columns fabricated by a local artist.
